Standing on the steps beneath the towering Library Tower in Downtown LA brought back memories of my past law firm life. a time when my world was powered by routines. I interned at O'Melveny & Myers, a sizable law firm, and spent my days shuffling redwell folders up and down the stairs while suited in shades of black and gray. Every day at 12:30pm, my friend Dan would meet me at the bottom of the stairs for lunch. After work, I'd trek to the top of the hill to socialize at McCormick & Schmidt where their $1.99 cheeseburger and fries made happy hour a repetitious event. It's been so long since I've been back there, a place that was once the center of my orbit. It's alarming how one's center can shift and slip so quickly and without detection.
Although my outfit isn't hued in Olivia Pope's signature white, the classic cut of the dress and the overall look is definitely a throwback to Livvie's conservative yet chic style. I imagine she'd wear it with the jacket in the office during the day and take it off to reveal some skin for her nighttime rendezvous with the President. Natural makeup by way of Neutrogena crease proof eye shadow in Lasting Taupe and MoistureSmooth color stick in Rich Raisin completes my look.
My corporate life was never as exciting or scandalous as Kerry Washington's on-screen alter ego so I do wish SCANDAL had been on during my stint in the Tower as it would've provided something other than cheeseburger and fries to look forward to on Thursday nights.
