Although it's the beginning of the year, I find myself digging deep into my closet reaching for old favorites. After all, January is the Walking Dead of retail. The stores are still getting rid of clearance inventory left over from the holiday massacres while waiting for Spring merchandise to arrive. As a consumer, I'm hesitant to shop as buying winter items feel wasteful and shopping for Spring arrivals seem premature.
The shopping hiatus has definitely been a good thing as it allows me to rediscover and remix from my closet. It also serves as an opportune reminder that the saying, "I have nothing to wear," is just a matter of perspective. A fabulous outfit is always just an inspiration (or Pose.com click) away!
I wore the top (which is actually a dress) to speak at a fashion career panel at USC a few months ago. The jacket is a personal favorite and was last worn to movie night at The Grove two years ago while the skirt previously appeared at a NYE dinner in 2010. They've been "hanging out" idly in the closet waiting for the moment to come together to shape a new fashion narrative that is all part of life's rich tapestry.
