{GBF Life + Beauty} The Face of Fashion Week Swim

I woke up Sunday morning in a haze after a rather festive Saturday night that kept me up until 4am. To cut through the haziness, I went for a late morning dip in the pool. The invigorating and rigorous swim lapped the grogginess as each stroke enveloped clarity and a newfound sense of determination to keep going.  I've never been much of a swimmer so the completion of each lap felt like a small victory. The swim inspired a new action plan-I need to focus on what's in front of me and try to achieve incremental goals instead of diving head first into the water which always leaves me flailing and grasping for air. The swim was so refreshing that I'm determined to incorporate it into my summer workout routine.

Since I will be spending quite a bit of time in the water this summer, I wanted to get some runway inspiration on the latest beauty trends that's making a splash. My timing was impeccable as the Mercedez Benz Swim Fashion Week is currently sizzling in Miami. After browsing through pictures from runway shows like Beach Bunny, Suboo, and Poko Pano, it's clear that this season is all about subtlety as lightly smoked eyes complimented with neutral eyeshadow palettes, complexion highlighting blush, and barely there lips colored the runways. My favorite Miami Swim runway look comes from Nicolita as the soft retro glam is an easy and playful look to recreate for my pool time fun.
To recreate the look, I used a few essential products from CoverGirl. I gravitated towards their new Flamed Out collection as its volume maximizing mascara and brightly colored and easy to glide on eyeshadow pencils scream retro glam.

{step 1} I used CoverGirl's Flamed Out eyeshadow pencil in Ice Flame to cover the lids
{step 2} I then smudged Ginger Flame, a light coral color, over the brow bone
{step 3} I applied black liquid eyeliner generously above my lash line and flicked it upward
{step 4) To magnify the cat eye look, I added taupe eyeshadow to the outer comers of the eye

{step 5} I used a bronzing blush from the CoverGirl Instant Cheekbones collection to contour. I always suck in my cheeks when contouring so I can deposit the color underneath the apples of my cheek.
{step 6} I used a blending brush to even out the blush

In just six easy steps and with the help of Covergirl, I am ready to go in for another dip in my Esther Williams swimsuit {similar | similar}.
