Before I left for New Hampshire, my brother explicitly instructed over the phone to pack "casually." He said, "Jenny, college kids don't stomp around campus in five inch Christian Louboutins or blind classmates with Mr. T chains. Can you try to blend in?" I chuckled with amusement and responded, "Fine, I'll be easy breezy this weekend but only because you impressed me with your knowledge of designer shoes."
Of course, dressing down never means forgoing style so on my first day at Dartmouth, I wore my Old Navy graphic tank, True Religion "Hallie" tie dye skinny jeans, and my olive green RD Style motorcycle jacket. A navy patent leather Fendi purse and studded moto boots from Shoedazzle completed the outfit. Part of Old Navy's active wear collection, the graphic tank is cool enough to wear on and off the treadmill.
My low key and casual look lived long and prospered as I wore it all day and all night. It was casual enough to wear to a lunch time graduation bbq and a leisure afternoon stroll up and down Main Street yet still appropriate for a more formal graduation dinner at the grad's frat house. I'm happy to report he introduced me to all his friends which means my outfit didn't embarrass him too much. However, I can't say the same for outing him on his CL knowledge.
