Concept LA Fashion Week Coverage-Alana Hale, Bohemian Society and the Jen Awad Shows

Although the heat inside Ace Gallery had subsided by Day 2 of Concept LA, the runway shows were still simmering with heat. Alana Hale, a native of Los Angeles, has been designing and marketing her creations to the public since elementary school! She began her journey at the age of 15 with a design internship and later studied at FIDM in Los Angeles and Paris. Her self-named label was born, raised and made right here in LA. Her Spring 2012 collection had a dreamy summer vibe inspired by Brigitte Bardot (the models' fabulous hair kind of flaunted her inspiration) summering in the South of France. Tons of fresh, edgy and sophisticated silhouettes complimented by a fun color palette graced the runway.

The Bohemian Society is quite a maverick brand. The visionary behind the brand, Victor Wilde, remains true to his namesake, creating a collection that's rebelliously wild while drawing a boho rock n roll lifestyle. In other words, the collection is perfect for LA's irreverent rock scene. The pieces range from limited edition dresses made from vintage silk parachutes to graphic T-shirts, gender neutral retooled vintage looks and new cut-and-sew items.

I've had the privilege of being dressed by the adorable Jen Awad in the past so I knew that her collection would undoubtedly reflect her bubbly and fun-loving personality. Jen describes her collection as that "designed for the Libertine woman-the free thinker, open minded and restrained. It's a compilation of looks packed full of playfulness, rebelliousness, fun and raunch. The soundtrack to this collection would be a nod to the embodiment of the underground LA style."

What I Wore

Dress: Ani Lee, a brand that makes the most ethereal and romantic dresses. I'm so happy to see that the label is proliferating and has become a celebrity favorite. The nude color is trendy but understated while the plunging sweetheart neckline brings something new to the table.
Shoes: Miu Miu
Clutch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
